Rachel Morris Offered Montreat College Scholarship
Rachel Morris, Senior at Heritage Christian Academy, recently visited and toured Montreat College in Montreat, North Carolina. Rachel and her parents, Dwayne and Cindy Morris of Darien, Georgia, were awed by the beautiful campus. Montreat College is a Christ-centered liberal arts Presbyterian college east of Asheville in the Blue Ridge Mountains. 
 
Rachel was presented with the Presidential Scholarship for academic achievement
in the amount of $10,000 for the 2011-2012 academic year, renewable each year thereafter. 
 
Rachel has maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout highschool. She is a member of the BETA Club and has been awarded the President’s Award for Educational Excellence and the American Citizenship Award. She is vice president for the Student Leadership Team and was selected to represent HCA on the Youth Leadership Glynn Program for the 2010/11 school year. Rachel is participating in joint-enrollment at the College of Coastal Georgia.
 
Rachel is an active and enthusiastic student, selected MVP in basketball and tennis; and Defensive MVP in volleyball; chosen All-Region in basketball, volleyball, and tennis. She was HCA’s Wendy’s High School Heisman Award winner for 2010 and the HCA Athlete of the Year for 2010. She was awarded the Bridge Building Award by the Glynn-Brunswick Ministerial Association for her efforts in community work.

Students met Governor Deal and enjoyed a private tour of his office on March 2, 2011.
