HB1133: Private School Tuition Tax Credit Scholarship

In 2008, the Georgia General Assembly passed House Bill 1133 and Governor Sonny Perdue signed it into law. This law provides for the creation of student scholarship organizations (SSOs) that use Georgia income tax credit-eligible contributions to provide public school, Pre-K4 or kindergarten-entry students with the opportunity to attend private schools. Donors receive a dollar-for-dollar state tax credit along with a federal deduction in return for their gift. Tax credits are issued on a first-come first-served basis up to a statewide annual cap of $50 million.

Similar programs are in place in Arizona, Florida, Iowa, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island.

Donating Made Simple

Contact our Development Director, Mrs. Debbie Kennedy, at 912-266-3480 or dkennedy@hcaeagles.net, and she will guide you through the donation process. She will have you fill out two forms (Georgia Department of Revenue Pre-Approval Form and the Donor Designation Form) and write your donation check or set up a monthly withdrawal .
Debbie will then take care of all of the paperwork and pre-approval, and then after approval she will send your donation to the Georgia Student Scholarship Organization (GASSO).
GASSO will send a receipt and paperwork to you to use when you file your taxes.
GASSO will send the money to HCA.
